Here is a guide to help you estimate how large of a container you will need for your belongings.

Most shipping container companies will have relatively standard sizes available, and at Porta-Stor, we offer several options to choose from. These will be listed in the measurement format of length x width x height in feet, along with the estimated amount of rooms that can fit in each size.

12 x 8 x 8 – 1 bedroom home

16 x 8 x 8 – 2-3 bedroom home

22 x 8 x 8 – 3-4 bedroom home

26 x 8 x 8 – 5-7 bedroom home

26 x 8.5 x 8 – wider option for larger homes

Porta-Stor Container Types

At Porta-Stor, we have a variety of box sizes for each type of storage. If you just need a container for transferring your items via truck during a move, you’d want a roll-off container. You can decide which size you need to use by looking at the dimensions above.

If you are moving farther away, we also offer cargo/shipping containers in two sizes: 20 x 8 x 8 and 40 x 8 x 8. These containers can be shipped by truck, train, or even overseas via boat.
